Monitor Reccomendations

Whats reletively inexpensive. Monitors range the gammut of $100 to $100,000 and more. Are you in the $200 range, the $500 range? Your gonna be reletively unhappy until you hit about the grand a pair range I think. Monitors below that range will be fine, but they are not all that flat Ive found. On the lower end side the new yamaha and KRK monitors seem to be popular choices. In the mid-high end event asp's, dynaudio, adam a7's, mackie's (and I hate to say this cuz this is about the only mackie gear id consider to be decent)
Interesting, well I'm currently listening to mixes in L-R Sub setup attached to my PC. So pretty much anything would probably be an upgrade. I'd like to keep it around 500; and do you reccomend using a sub in general for a monitor pair?
Generally, subs can cause more problems than good depending on the room, placement, or if not otherwise setup correctly. But, it's nothing that can't be corrected.
In the $500 range, I'd strongly suggest the Blue Sky Media Desk 2.1's. And yes, they have a sub. When helping to build out a friends home studio, I auditioned a bunch of stuff in this price range, and these were hands down the best to my ears. Think we paid $458/shipped. YMMV.

Out of curiousity, how is listening to music (cds, digital audio) through studio monitors?... Hows that for overly general question as well 
Listening to CD's is a good idea as it will give you an idea where your monitors might be hyped or lacking. I try not to do it alot just to reduce wear and tear on my monitors, but plenty of people do it. Consumer speakers have widely differing eq curves trying to make their monitors sound the best, whereas studio monitors are designed to be as flat as possible. Expect to hear something more clearly and less hyped.
Chrisp2u is dead on. Without treating your room the sub can be problematic. Hes dead on again, Ive heard nothing but good things about blue sky systems. They arent gonna compare much with a high end genelec system but for their price ive never heard a bad word uttered.
