Mono M80 Dual Bag summary

Joe, if you've got a couple other guys in line, go ahead and sell it to one of them. I just stuck mine in my trusty Warwick double Rockbag, and it'll get me by just fine for now.

I think I might hold out for one of these Mono bags, eventually.

I think the selling point of these bags for me was the riveted shoulder straps. I've had tons of problems with double bags in the past. The shoulder straps would just pop off due to the weight of the basses. The Mono bags have rivets connecting the strap to the bag as well as heavy duty stitching. My Cirrus 6'er is easily over 10 lbs. and the Elrick is somewhere around 7.5-8 lbs. Along with my cables, tuner, and compressor pedal and the weight of the contents will surely pull the straps off any bag that's straps are not reinforced. So far I'm loving mine!

That's a good point. I've read of a few failures related to the shoulder straps ripping loose on some of the other high end dub bags. It sounds like Mono did their homework.

You guys have got me sold on getting one.

Those days are pretty much over, and there is no way to know if an airline will let you on or not. If they don't, you are major screwed, since checking a bag like that is courting disaster. The probability of getting a single bag on is low, a double bag... zero, or close to it.

In my situation, when I fly to a gig within the US, the agency I work through always hires a driver and van to carry instruments to the gig... which is awesome. On the very rare occasion I fly internationally, I require that a bass is provided.

Edit: GREAT double bag by the way... light, high quality, and totally separate compartments with their own zippers. The only downside for me is the very small accessory pockets.

The Mono Dub bag just arrived.

Very nice bag! Actually more of a case. IMO, the basic design is better than the incase Dub bag. The separate compartments for each bass is IMO THE WAY TO DO IT. The fact that they enter and exit on opposite sides is also a big deal to me. I was always just a little paranoid when taking out the first bass or putting in the second bass in the incase (and Roscoe dub bag). Hey, but that's just me! I do think that I'm really going to like the Mono bag though.

Same as the double... lightweight, very high quality, nitro safe, any bass will fit (I have a full size 5 string J bass with 5 in-line headstock in mine). The downside, the small accessory pockets.

Definitely good to hear, Ken. I ordered a single bag at the same time, and I'm definitely anxious to use it. I'm guessing your A/C has to be a bit longer than my Lull, so it's great to hear about the fitment. The reason I mention that...I currently have two Low End bags - single and double. The Lull fits just fine in the single, but not so much in the double.

FYI/FWIW...Since buying iI've had two gigs, a session, and two rehearsals where I've used the double bag. Zero regrets. I even think I've dialed in the right length on the shoulder straps. :)

Gotta love Fed Ex tracking. First it said 5/26 delivery, then a day later it said 5/28 delivery. Yesterday (5/25) it was at my front door :hyper:

This is one heck of a "gig bag" - you might call it a soft hardshell case - definitely plush. I'm 5'7" (on a good day) and I thought the straps were adjusted perfectly right out of the box. I put both of my SX Jazz-style basses in it and walked around the house, up/down stairs, etc. I'm really pleased with how solid it feels carrying 2 basses on my back, and the chest strap that connects the backpack straps was a nice touch.

Jerry: Found another pocket. The place where you can fit the shoulder straps down into is pretty large - you can probably fit an instrument cable and towel down there to let the front pocket breathe a little :) Otherwise, I think your review of the bag that started this thread is right-on.

Real-world test-drive this weekend as my band is playing a show in town. I get to put my new MXR288 through its paces too ;)

That Shoulder strap pocket is the perfect size for charts. That's how I use it.
