more bassy distortion?

for the band im doing now i have my bass highly distorted but my main prob is that the distortion is taking out allllllllll of my low end and therefore making me sound really bad what can i do to add more low end into the mix of my sound and make my notes come out more punchy and clean? please all and any help i would love

Run the distortion PARALLEL with a cleaner signal.

The BEST solution I've seen for this is expensive.
A clean amp for bass and a dirty/guitar amp for distortion. Amy in Clatter has that setup.
Pat Seals(Flyleaf) sound is close to hers when she's using the guitar amp on super-dirt.

Man I seriously think I'm the only one who likes the Boss ODB :\

If you twist the knobs right it has a low of low end and sounds pretty good with my Jazz bass.

I actually prefer the Boss ODB-3 for a mild distortion, but the problem is finding the sweet spot, because it feeds back like crazy if you're not careful

I used to have an EHX muff that got buried in my hard rock band. Now, in my much denser death metal band's mix the Musket absolutely dominates if I let it.

I recently picked up a EH Bass Big Muff and it definitely has plenty of low end. The "dry" mode is pretty sweet because it allows you to mix your dry signal with the distorted signal. The "Bass Boost" is pretty nice too.

I am still trying to find a setting that works for me in a band context with it for bass, but it sounds really awesome for guitar on almost any setting. It has way more bass than a regular USA Big Muff.

One of these days I'll mod it with a different selector switch that allows you to select both the dry setting and bass boost at the same time, since afaik the dry combines your clean tone with the normal muff tone, not the bass-boosted muff tone.

That will be my first ever pedal mod, but I'd imagine it should be as simple as replacing the switch with a four or five way one and wiring the dry and bass boost wires to the fourth position.

Try the Xotic bass bb preamp - great distortion, and a bass boost knob that can do wonders for your low end.
