None of the requirements seem odd or extravagant to me . Sad that he felt the need to list them, but after dealing with flaky musicians for over three decades, I can sort of understand . Probably why I don't have any interest in gigging any more .

An established A player can demand that rate in a lot of markets...but probably not some rando on Craigslist.

All that seems reasonable to me.. a little bitter sounding, but likely has a backstory for each.
Minimum of 100.00 seems reasonable to be sure, playing for free? Fairs, and benefit shows yes NOTHING else free.
Moving my stuff and gas and rehearsal time (not to mention my time) is worth the price of a decent dinner for 2.
Each gig consumes a minimum of 6 hours of my time.
That makes my 100.00 pay just above minimum wage. not unreasonable.
Unless the band sucks the average bar will clear an extra boost in alcohol sales that would cover the 4-500 for services rendered, and that is entirely reasonable.

Yes —

This ad just screams “bitter” to me.

None of the demands are outlandish. But when one needs to air monetary as well as personnel and even equipment and stage setup, I’d think twice about hiring this particular musician for my gig.

Again - the “demands” aren’t out of whack - but the in the context of advertising one’s self for a gig on Craigslist - I believe they’d turn off many a potential bandleader/MD.

Seriously - who plays for less than $100? I don’t.

Other than that - if you play anything in a cover band you better darn well also sing backup at a minimum.

I like the ad. He/She has laid it all out there. Why waste time auditioning for bands that don't meet your criteria? Sure, you'll get less calls, but the calls you get will be closer to what you are willing to live with.

Yeah, sounds bitter and arrogant but you know he'll get some replies from folks who don't actually read the ad. Every single time I post ads looking for fill-ins I'm inundated with offers to join a band that "will be gigging soon".
