In my day, RTFM was the usual response to basic tech questions, when a perfectly good manual was available. What do you mean?
I know what RTM means. I just wondered what the “reason it’s not just RTM” was.In my day, RTFM was the usual response to basic tech questions, when a perfectly good manual was available.
Apropos, I'll post this in the 'Tell me you are old without telling me you are old' thread![]()
I have long considered getting a T-shirt with this printed on it. And yes, if that is indeed what was meant, I can get behind that sentiment.I’m pretty sure the comment was that RTm is not sufficient to convey the emotion, thus the more common RTFM.

@mdalamond has.Has anyone received there Mortrix pedal yet?
I have as well, just too busy at the moment to fully set it upHas anyone received there Mortrix pedal yet?
Yes I have.Has anyone received there Mortrix pedal yet?
It verily gladdens my heart to hear this!Yes I have.
I am really enjoying it. It is very easy to use. So easy in fact that I sometimes find myself overthinking something.
Someone else on this thread commented " Couldn't imagine trying to operate this unit with no instructions", so I thought to myself, OK challenge accepted.
I'm more of a hands on, Trial and Error kind of person.
As @Quatschmacher has previously mentioned, Both He and Morten together created the Mortrix to be very intuitive and it doesn't disappoint.
I am enjoying going through the controller with only a basic midi knowledge and a commonsense approach.
I have found that the Mortrix is much easier to navigate and create on than my MorningStar MC6 or MC6 Pro.
I still have to refer to the manuals on those and I have owned the MC6 MKII since it was first released.
So far on the Mortrix I have figured out how to build presets, sending common PC and CC messages, use the expression pedal messages, send midi note on and off, create preset groups for seamless switching and use the sequencer all without RTM.
I know at some point in my journey I will have no choice but to break down and consult the manual but for now I'm having fun exploring and seeing what I can figure out on my own.
The biggest thing I have learned about the Mortrix so far is, Dont over think it. Whatever you trying to do, its easier than you think.
I anxiously await to see what the future holds for the Mortrix.
One of the biggest things I like about my MorningStar controllers is that James at MorningStar listens to the community and is constantly upgrading the firmware with new features.
We live in very exciting times for Midi and Mortrix just upped the game.
Matt
That’s where I am as well.Good to hear. I was on the original waitlist but was pushed to second build. Still waiting for some notice.
The “original waitlist” was open to everyone who was on the mailing list. The number of people who opted to buy one exceeded the number of units in the first batch so naturally, probably in order of commitment to buy, the first signups went into the first batch and the others had to be moved into the next batch(es).Good to hear. I was on the original waitlist but was pushed to second build. Still waiting for some notice.
Operating with stilettos is probably not recommended.I know this is marketed as a foot switch, but I feel like that top row is potentially problematic. Anyone planning on putting this on a pedalboard? Has the touchscreen been tested against, say, an errant heel strike at the end of the third set?
Also meant to say, Morten has been using his live on his board for the past few years while it was in development.I know this is marketed as a foot switch, but I feel like that top row is potentially problematic. There’s a bunch of videos on the Chase Bliss user group on Facebook from a very happy user.Any others with experience with this unit? Videos?
Thanks. There’s a bunch of videos on the Chase Bliss user group on Facebook from a very happy user.
