I have a question. Can you use other midi pedals other than the ones listed on the Mortrix list. i.e. Zoom cdr70 ,GR-55 etc.? Looking thru the manual and I don't see an answer. Mine just came in the mail and haven't had a chance to set up my pedalboard yet.Yes I have.
I am really enjoying it. It is very easy to use. So easy in fact that I sometimes find myself overthinking something.
Someone else on this thread commented " Couldn't imagine trying to operate this unit with no instructions", so I thought to myself, OK challenge accepted.
I'm more of a hands on, Trial and Error kind of person.
As @Quatschmacher has previously mentioned, Both He and Morten together created the Mortrix to be very intuitive and it doesn't disappoint.
I am enjoying going through the controller with only a basic midi knowledge and a commonsense approach.
I have found that the Mortrix is much easier to navigate and create on than my MorningStar MC6 or MC6 Pro.
I still have to refer to the manuals on those and I have owned the MC6 MKII since it was first released.
So far on the Mortrix I have figured out how to build presets, sending common PC and CC messages, use the expression pedal messages, send midi note on and off, create preset groups for seamless switching and use the sequencer all without RTM.
I know at some point in my journey I will have no choice but to break down and consult the manual but for now I'm having fun exploring and seeing what I can figure out on my own.
The biggest thing I have learned about the Mortrix so far is, Dont over think it. Whatever you trying to do, its easier than you think.
I anxiously await to see what the future holds for the Mortrix.
One of the biggest things I like about my MorningStar controllers is that James at MorningStar listens to the community and is constantly upgrading the firmware with new features.
We live in very exciting times for Midi and Mortrix just upped the game.
Matt
Which list are you talking about?I have a question. Can you use other midi pedals other than the ones listed on the Mortrix list. i.e. Zoom cdr70 ,GR-55 etc.? Looking thru the manual and I don't see an answer. Mine just came in the mail and haven't had a chance to set up my pedalboard yet.
There is a drop-down list of pedals and their manufactures on the pedal itself. I was just curious if it supports pedals not shown on the list, but you say it will support any midi pedal which was all I needed to know. ThanksWhich list are you talking about?
It can be used with any MIDI pedal. If there’s currently no profile for the pedals you want to use, drop Morten a line and he can add it.
You can address any MIDI pedal with standard CCs. The profile list is relatively short at the moment as Morten is busy with lots of stuff so is adding profiles as and when needed. Once things calm down he’ll be able to bulk work on profiles. There is a drop-down list of pedals and their manufactures on the pedal itself. That is kind of what is being beta tested at the moment with a small group.Maybe the community could make profiles at some point?
Works with either. It is not clear to me: does the Mortrix power supply need to be center negative or center positive or does it work with both?
Check the C4’s MIDI map to make sure the message you’re sending actually corresponds to the command you think it does.I seem to be having issues with deactivating 2 pedals I've added to Mortrix. The Source Audio c4 and the Zoom cdr 70. both pedals will respond to on activate cc64 but they won't deactivate in the on deactivate cc63. I can see the c4 is getting the midi signal but it's not responding. They both respond perfectly to PC messages and, and my Future Impact which is in device profiles works perfectly as well. Maybe someone who has the Mortrix knows what I may be doing wrong. I'm new at adding cc messages but it seems pretty straight forward on this controller, but after several days and many hours on my knees, it's time to ask help.

On C4, CC105 is an engage/bypass toggle for which you can send any value, successive messages toggle the on/off state.
CC102 is engage/bypass (non-toggle) for which you send a value of anything between 65 and 127 to engage and anything between 0 and 64 to disengage. (That’s according to the manual; it’s odd because usually it would be 0-63 and 64-127. I’d use 0 and 127 to be safe.)[/QUOTE
Is there a way to connect a Meris Enzo pedal directly to the Mortrix without the Meris I/O converter box? Here is a shot of the Mortrix on my pedalboard. For me it fits perfectly and is exactly what I've been looking for in a midi controller. Simple to program. Accommodates a variety of pedals. Easy to read from a standing position. Able to setup a set list within the pedal. Able to setup and control expression pedal parameters within the pedal, and so much more that I haven't gotten to yet. The only disappointment was not being able to connect both my GR-55 and Future Impact to Mortrix due to the fact that GR-55 does not have pass thru capability with midi 5pin, so I had to choose The F.I. over the GR-55. It would be nice to have two or more midi 5pin outs to hook up older midi capable pedals. All in all, congrats to Morten and QM for developing this state-of-the-art device with the ability to expand and grow as technology changes. View attachment 5460923
Does the Enzo have a TRS MIDI port? That would be 1-way communication without their converter though, I think. Is there a way to connect a Meris Enzo pedal directly to the Mortrix without the Meris I/O converter box?
Yes. 1/4" TRS. I was wondering if a 1/4" TRS from the Meris to 3.5mm to Mortrix might work? I only need one way communication.Does the Enzo have a TRS MIDI port? That would be 1-way communication without their converter though, I think.
I would think that should work fine.Yes. 1/4" TRS. I was wondering if a 1/4" TRS from the Meris to 3.5mm to Mortrix might work? I only need one way communication.
I'll give it a shot.Thanks.I would think that should work fine.
