Have a Celebrity Bass the someone replaced the bridge with a Gibson type. Needless to say it just doesnt work.

Are you wanting a bridge that works or one that Mosrite originally used? Here's one that will work if you still have the trapeze you can buy just the bridge itself, no need to buy the tailpiece.

String spacing !

Pretty sure the Celebrity was more like 15mm spacing.

Yes thank you for that, I've been looking into that.
You could probably use a floating mandolin bridge piece or a Hofner Violin bass bride like this.
Stock spacing is 1 1/2" but you can slide the brass inserts to suit. Fit a bridge cover, many of the Mosrite basses had those, and no-one would know
