Building a Warmoth Precision with a Jazz neck, and I'm Looking for a setup that would get Sterling buzzsaw or Stingray mids out of a P while still providing plenty of bottom and warmth. I want it to cut through, yet sit well in any mix sort of like an SR-5 does.
I'm looking for a marriage between Precision and Sterling sounds, not trying to duplicate one or the other.
Caveats:
-must be passive. No batteries.
-must fit 2 knobs and an output jack - front cavity standard.
-I don't care about EQ if I can get a good, bold, middy, warm basic sound as above.
-Please don't say 'Buy an EBMM'. I have one and it's great.
-I've read the stickies as well, but this thread is more about a complete control set
EMG makes a preamp that doesn't seem to require batteries and works with passive pickups. Any good or keep the controls V-T? Other on-board preamps?
I've got an Original 60's P humbucker slated for insertion. Should I look at Dimarzio, EMG or something else?
