Arguably the best streak ever.

Yep that is one of the most astounding streaks of creativity I've ever heard. Don't think I'll ever stop being amazed by that one.

Bowie too, but I would lengthen that list to everything up to side one of Scary Monsters. After that he lost his mojo and I gave up on him when he released an equally stunning (in a bad way) string of albums in the 80's. I know he's put out a lot of stuff since then. I wonder if he ever got "it" back? I never cared enough to notice. His 70's stuff though will always rank in my all time faves.

as far as great output in a short period, i would have to go with Scott Walker. between 1967-1970, he released 5 wonderful solo albums. the only caveat would be that the earlier releases had a fair amount of non-original material, but the originals on those first 2-3 records are simply amazing. and the bass playing isn't too bad either(much of which was done by Walker himself). just check out "The Old Man's Back Again" from Scott 4.

TECHNICALLY neither are considered proper LPs in their catalog. very much a technicality, though Magical Mystery Tour is one of my favorites from them.

I would take a guess and say, Musicology. Probably his most solid outing of the last 10 years. 3121 is another good one to check out if you haven't listened since he had the issues with WB and went to the symbol/TAFKAP.
