Most Amusing things to hear as a bassist

The drummer was looking out after his girlfriend's kid one night during our jam at his house. He must have been about 6 or 7, maybe 8, i dunno. He was pretty well behaved, but was curious so he would come sit by me on the couch and at other times he would look through my gig bag and stuff. He got scolded for that, but I was ok with it, there was nothing for him to find in there and he's just a curious boy.

Well the next day apparently he had to write a paper about something interesting he'd seen and I guess that was me. He wrote about a big man (I am) who came to his house with a big guitar (it was a 6 string bass) that had big strings (of course) to play music just for him. My drummer showed me the paper a few days later. He got a good grade on it.

I felt really honored by that.

That's really cool!

My wife leads with the keys in our worship band, last night she was practicing our set list for this Sunday and she was having difficulty getting the timing right on the closing song. As I walk by she calls me over and says "You'll have to carry the bottom end on this one, I can only manage about 1 left hand note ever 3 or 4 measures." WELL DUH!!!! Don't I always?!?!?!?! Actually my response was "Yes, dear" as I walked away. It does bolster my ego a bit when I have to miss a Sunday and the whole worship team tells me how much of a train wreck it was without me keeping them together! I'm the only bass player we have and our drummer is absent more than he's present. (sometimes even when he's there!)
