Most difficult bass song ever!!

There is no hardest bass song in the world because one person may be a wicked slapper but have no skills with their fingers in general, therefor they would be able to play any wooten/claypool/miller passage but unable to even contemplate how to play any necrophagist or cannibal corpse song. The same works in reverse.

There is no right answer because the question is subjective, the better question would be: "what is the hardest song you know/want to learn" and even THAT has its pitfalls.

Personally only ash remains has its tough parts, even out of the opening solo. I also find a lot of bach cello suites a challenge.

please don't virtually rape me for this but.

Protest the hero - Blindfolds aside/ Heretics and killers.

You lot will probably think they're easy but the basslines are so quick, and have such a dynamic rhythm i struggle to keep up.

I have no doubt in my mind that nothing maybe by Protest the hero is harder than Necrophagist or Origin.

this is pretty hard to play :)

Thank you, someone bringing up Mr. Thunes.

I think I mentioned this on a post in this forum a little bit ago, but it's a collective opinion from many musicians that I know that The Glass Prison is hard on ANY instrument.

Mr. Manrings' approach to bass is totally different to anyone else, and that being said, I think we can just accept him as our bass god (because they can't be a god if they are dead right? so this puts Mr. Pastorious out of the picture......and Mr. Manring plays everything that his peer did as well). Maybe this is easy for me to do?

I love you guys.

I was interested to see a few months back in Bass Player Mag they did a transcription of Stevie Wonder's Boogie On Reggae Woman and the transcriber opened the article by saying in his opinion this is the toughest bass line to play properly (if you want to nail all the inflections etc) he has ever come across.

I know technically it's not a 'bass song' as Wonder played it on a synth but even so he said he thinks to play it right on a bass is much harder than anything by wooten etc...

He even went so far as to say in his opinion it might actually be impossible!!!! and laid down the gauntlet for readers to prove him wrong.

I looked at it for a 5 mins and decided there was no point in me even trying

So was wondering, did anyone see this and have a go at it??? How did you get on??

Also, im sure nowhere near the most difficult ever, but can anyone here play Norman Watt-Roy's line from 'Hit me with your rhythm stick' by Ian Dury and the Blockheads. If i ever get to the point where i can play this properly i'll die a happy man! :p

In fact if anyone wants to try and tab this out I'd pay £$£$£$£'s for it!

for me... at the moment.... can't understand why we're 10 pages in and not a mention of the real OG........ James Jamerson!

Marvin Gaye: (album) Whats Goin On (track) Save The Children............pls try it with one finger!

I dare you!

WOW! this guy is GREAT!!
What can you tell me about him? is he a member here??? And is he in the UK and available to give private lessons??? :bassist:

I cant decide if i want to play all night or cut my fingers off in disgust...:bawl:

He is indeed great, one of my favorite youtubers definitely!
His name is Thomas Risell, used to be professional and - unfortunately for you - he is Danish and lives around Copenhagen I believe. So you would probably have to pay good money to get him to do a private lesson in the UK, but there may be a solution if you have a fast connection..! After reaching 5000 subscribers on youtube, he launched the very cool (and free) site called http://playbassnow.com which has a live videochat-bass lesson option for $50: http://playbassnow.com/live-videochat-bass-lessons/ .

He is a member on TB too. http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=337643

Btw, do the playing-thing instead of the cutting-thing! ;)

Hi
This is maxi,Hysteria isn't hard, but it is loads of fun, IMO.

I can't do precise fast strumming, so the most difficult for me are:

Run to the Hills
Highway Star
Thrasher.

I dunno, the only songs that annoyed me on bass were Run to the Hills and Highway Star, the rest aren't so bad. Thrasher is just annoying because it's as fast as the guitar part, but without the solos and hammer-ons thrown in.
