Most difficult bass song ever!!

Bow Wow Wow's version of "Fools Rush In" is too scary for me to even attempt to learn... But then again so are a lot of their songs... Not my playing style anyway... Leigh Gorman is a bass divinity, but I have no interest in sounding like him at all...

+1: weird over the top playing..

On the other end of the spectrum: "What is hip" from Tower of Power; I really don't know how anyone can play that tight...it's like a machine

I've been playing this for months now and still have so far to go to play it anywhere near as tight as Rocco (I usually play it on fretless and sing with it, making it much harder for me). This song has been a huge teacher for me.

Technique can be learned and mastered. Emotion and power are WAY harder to represent in my opinion.

how about 'Heart Of The Sunrise' by Yes. that song has (in certain places) 2 basslines and it is 10:29 in the studio.
just about everything by Yes deserves mention.

Chris Squires use to have tab of that song on his web site. I've got the PDF somewhere. The solo stuff at the beginning is almost all 3/4 time.

Jeff Berlin's bass on "Fainting in Coils" is stunning.

I'll give anybody here $5 if they can play just the turnaround from Havona . . . cleanly . . . at speed . . . on a fretless. Post your clips now!

I went throught the metal years (even opened for Death and Testament) before I came to the Victor, Jaco, Manring stuff. The metal stuff is NOT hard. It's fast, but not hard. I've played both, I feel like I can comment with some perspective.

I've got this in my Jaco scores book...I'll give it a go on my Shergold!
