Most Disappointing purchase

My newest disappointment purchase wasn’t a Honda. It’s was a Line 6 Pod ago.
Bought it for silence practice for Bass and Guitar. I needed it to work for both instruments and it did work for that.
But my problem was, that it did sound great for guitar. However for Bass it didn’t really sound great to my ears.
The Bass amps and Bass overdrives just sounded very lacklustre.

i had debated going with a pod for this same reason but went with the Stomp. Definitely took some fine tuning but I love it and don’t what I’d do without it now

I am aware that you need to tune tune stuff to sound good with the Line 6 stuff.
I had no problem getting some good guitar sounds out of it but for bass It wouldn’t work with me.

The most difficult for me was getting a decent bass overdrive sound.

I’ve never used a POD so I’m not sure how much tweaking you can even do, I’d say it’s likely there just isn’t a good bass OD available, but the stomp is insane, endless possibilities (user friendly just time consuming)

The Pod go has more or less the same software as the Stomp or Helix. It’s just more limited in what you can do with signal routing but sound wise it should be very similar.

The Darkglass B7K ultra and the Sansamp pedal model sounded so strange. Completely totally different then the real stuff.
I tried to use the Clone model and that was ok(ish).

bunmer! I do use the B7K with bass on the stomp for some deathcore. I play hard with a pick and even then the guitars just bury it anyways haha so I’m not worried about an amazing tone. I agree the Sans Amp and Darkglass don’t sound like the real deal. Luckily I mainly use it for reverb on bass though, guitar and keys sound excellent with just about everything else though.

I bought this thing and it didn’t work at ALL!! Total waste of money...

The pandemic buys -
I was really psyched about this Spector. Unfortunately it didn't play anything like the old NS-2's I owned. Nor did it sound like they did. I sold it for the Warwick Streamer in the next pic. That played like a dream. I just didn't love the sound. Top end was very brash. I was going to change out the electronics and pickups but then came across a Corvette in a local shop.. Traded it for the Corvette which was much more like my old Thumb. Can't put the thing down. Absolutely love it.

Probably not the most disappointing, merely another one thas all... :(
Had to return to GC the beautifully put together Sterling SBMM short scaler I had such hopes for. T'was'nt the axe's fault; it played beautifully, with a short, thin fast neck and great tone. But with 9LBs mostly concentrated in the bottom of the bass it became too heavy for me to play even while sitting. I winced everytime I took it offa the stand, plus after sitting and practicing with it for a decent while my lower back and leg told me several times in no uncertain terms it wasn't going to work out...

I guess I really need to stay with lighter BGs nowadays to keep from being disappointed. My 6.LB short scale Mikro works out great, as does my 7.LB GSR100ex full sized one. And I do have on order now a new Squier Mustang which SW tells me is only a very light 5LBs/14ozs, so I have some good expectations re that coming this week. (Today, in fact... Whoopee!!)
I just hope SW is being accurate with their stats and not BS'ing me here.. :cautious:
{Must think positive... Think positive... :angel: }
Enjoy,

5lbs! That sounds amazing

Actually 5lb.14oz is closer to 6lbs, but that's still pretty amazing. I have a Mikro weighs similar but the Mikro also looks to have a much smaller body design than the Mustang. I called SW to make sure the weight wasn't a typo, that the "5" wasn't really a mistaken "8", but they assured me the weight indicated was correct. Makes me wonder what kind of wood Squier used on this new Mustang, or even whether it's partially hollow bodied? ;)
But it's coming (hopefully?) later today, and one of the first things I'll do after unpacking is check it out with my hang-scale. Will post more about it then...

Morse keys - Speed-X straight key with navy knob. It has a mushy feel. I much prefer my Vizkey, Junker and even my cheap Chinese K-4 keys. (wink, wink)

BASS RELATED - Kubicki X-Factor. My dream bass. Found one well used and grabbed it. Found quickly the bridge just didn't work for me. The saddles are up on posts. When my plucking a string my fingers tend to land with authority on the next lower string which caused the saddle post to resonate. Ping Ping Ping. So disappoint. In hind sight I should have adjusted my playing style but instead I traded the bass for a Fender Jazz.

I traded my Kubicki for a Fender Jazz long ago as well! Played it for a couple of years but just found the Kubicki tone to be too thin, though it felt great. I sure wish I'd kept it though, both for nostalgia and for current resale values!

As for disappointments...
The Peavey-T40 looked cool and I romanticized it in my head but, in practicality, it offered little in tone compared to what I had and wasn't super comfy to play. I had read that it sounded a bit like a Ric but no. I now have a 4003S that I LOVE (contrary to many on here).

I looked at the Pod too, as well as the Stomp and the full blown Helix. I finally went with the Boss GT-1000 after a month of comparisons and couldn't be happier. The bass overdrive is great, and I found myself playing with the auto-wah for hours on some funky bass lines. Endless fun... :)

Another disappointing purchase, though, is my new Jackson Spectra 5-string. I did a separate thread on that, but it was the worst out-of-the-box experience I ever had. It plays fine now, but it took days of repairs and tweaking to get it that way.

I've been super happy with my GT 1000, I agree on both counts and love using it as my DI, playing drum loop from Logic Pro and jamming, works and sounds great

Any instruments that come out of the box and aren’t in more or less playable shape, usually go straight into the box again.
I have no problem doing a quick setup (string height/ intonation/ trust rod adjustment/ pickup height) but more I’m usually not bothering with.
I’ve had a Fender JB and the neck wouldn’t stay straight, every other day I had to re adjust the trust rod. On a different instrument, the pickup mounting screws were stripped.
That sorta stuff usually gets send straight back to the shop.
