Most essential pedal

Totally depends on what you have bass / rig wise and what sound you are trying to get.

A lot of people are perfectly happy with bass to amp.

For my personal use, I can not do without some sort of preamp pedal because I don't have a preamp in my bass rig.

However, excluding this the pedal I can do the least without is a synth / envelope filter - because in my band I play a few songs that need something weird and spooky rather than just ordinary bass. Anything else I could fake with just normal bass to amp sound.

But, my band is not your average band, if I were doing straight rock or pop I would have absolutely no use for it.

Hi Justin

Hope you still read this older topic. I was wondering, as the OC-2 is one of your favorite pedals, have you ever A/B'd it with the OC-3?
I'm looking for a new octaver, as I wasn't satisfied with my Octabass. I tried the OC-2 and liked it more and was wondering hows it's compared to its younger brother. (I found no shops around here selling both...)

thx in advance
