That is not pityful, IMHO. That is the beauty of professinalism and the proof that a backup plan is a good insurance for those WT* moments.
You took the words right out of my mouth... Or my fingertips!

Tell that to michael manring.Capo
About a minute in, Russ and Will have to vamp while Felix tunes his bass.
I know there's all kinds of love for anything Pastorius here, and the guys in the band (former bass player Jimmy Haslip studied with Jaco) have ties as well, but I saw the band a number of times and we never had to wait for them to get ready. They were on stage and playing.
I think this is inexcusable.
I miss Jimmy.
A guy borrowed my bass for the sound check, then proceeded to tune my low b up to an e, e to a and a to d. It was at that point I noticed what was going on and informed him of his mistake. He then spent 3 minutes while I was in the toilet trying to unplug the bass, which had one of the neutrik button outputs which he just couldn't figure out. At the end of the sound check he gave me back the instrument without thanking me and just saying what a weird bass it was :/
yes, because all self taught bass players are incapable of tuning their instrument. Are you kidding me????
.
By the way, why did he need to borrow your bass for soundcheck? Where was his?
It's bad enough when Michael Anthony would do his amateurish "bass solo" onstage, but OMG, this guy Cronos (from Venom) makes Michael Anthony sound like a virtuoso by comparison:

I'm self-taught, and perfectly capable of tuning my basses.
Doesn't anyone wrap their cords through their straps anymore?
n00bs.

LOLHmmm, you would think that..
a) After 3 years, he would at least be able to hit some root note action?
or
b) The band would find a new bassist.
lol
BTW- your friend isnt Sid Vicious?
