most 'transparent, FRFR-ish' combo or?

Exactly, I have a Two Notes Opus Modeler and went round and round looking at options.

I ended up with a Fender Rumble 100 combo, basically because I got it used for a great price.

I run the Opus into the FX Return and I can make it sound really good (it had a 4 Ohm stock speaker, which I upgraded to a Celestion BN12-300S (4) and that helped a lot), but when I listen to the same presets through some very good Sennheiser headphones, it does not sound the same as what comes out of the combo.

Which is to say, I wish I had saved up longer and got a really good active PA cab (like the QSC K12.2 or at a lower price point, the EV ZLX-12P-G2).

There are a few combos that will get you close to what a PA will put out (post EQ).

After more research, the Yamaha DZR10 looks great or if you have a strong back a DZR12 or DZR15.

The Genzler Bass Array cabs are about as FRFR as you can get. That with a quilter head would be very transparent

I suspect that might be true - I'd have to compare Opus Presets through that combination to the same signal through my Sennheiser headphones.

A BB V803 plus a Genzler BA2-112-3 runs about $1900 and the Max SPL with one BA112 would be aproximately 125dB at 512W - while the 803 puts out 450W @ 8 Ohm.

The Yamaha DZR10 is currently $1115 while retail price is $1310 and is rated at 137dB Max SPL (of course, active cabs probably require a decent Preamp - I use a Two Notes Opus).

Probably apples to oranges, as I haven't listened to the Yamaha's yet and only heard youtube clips of the Genzler's with a Genzler amp.

I'll do some searching to see if I can find clips of both systems.
