Most underrated guitarist.

What part of underrated don't some of you get? Multiple covers of Guitar Players magazine doesn't equal underrated. Now if you want to talk about overrated, we can start with The Edge

On the blues rock front, I'm going to add Rory Gallagher. He should be mentioned in the same breath as Clapton and S.R.V.

No doubt about Billy Joe's place in history but I don't think he's going to be remembered as a guitarist as much as a songwriter because he took so much of his playing cues from the british invasion guys like Townshend and Dave Davies. So, the pop-punk guitarist that I think isn't talked about enough is James Honeyman Scott, the first guitarist in the Pretenders.

Chuck Schuldiner (RIP) of Death.
Every bit as good or better than famous guitar heroes like Van Halen. He started a genre.
Check out the album Human for some amazing guitar work.

"The Teacher"
Reggie Wooten. Gets a bit sloppy with his slapping stuff, but he is great none-the-less.
