On the blues rock front, I'm going to add Rory Gallagher. He should be mentioned in the same breath as Clapton and S.R.V.
No doubt about Billy Joe's place in history but I don't think he's going to be remembered as a guitarist as much as a songwriter because he took so much of his playing cues from the british invasion guys like Townshend and Dave Davies. So, the pop-punk guitarist that I think isn't talked about enough is James Honeyman Scott, the first guitarist in the Pretenders.
Yeah...this is just about my favourite solo of all time...ever...Gary Moore.
