Mostly useless but fun effect pedal?

I have more than a few effects fitting this... I'll throw out the
LAL Misty Cave. I love it... but I really have no idea how to utilize it yet.

I used to hook a Mutron III up to a Yamaha Delay.

I like this.

Rainbow Machine! Got one recently and for bass it's mostly fun experimentation. But with the pitch just slightly off center and the delay set very short, it does a beautiful and practical chorus-like effect without the volume washout that a modulated chorus/phase/flange throws on your tone. I'm diggin' it!

a while back i bought an old 60's shin-ei surf/hurricane/wah/volume/SIREN pedal yeah thats right!
here is a similar one http://www.gearbug.com/product_info/shinei_surf_pedal

it was in a rocker pedal type enclosure with three knobs down the side: an effect volume, siren volume, and a 4 way selector switch to select between the modes.

-in volume mode it worked as a normal volume pedal with a weird taper that i kinda dug
-in wah mode it worked as a really interesting wah wah pedal that colored the tone and gritted it up in a really interesting way
-in surf mode it produced some white noise that was effected by the wah wah so that when you rocked it back and forth it sounded like waves crashing on a beach while still passing your guitar signal (so you could sound like you were shredding on the beach!)
-in hurricane mode it produced a slightly different more intense white noise signal that worked similarly to the surf function except it sounded a little more like howling winds then waves (so you can sound like you're shredding on the beach during a hurricane!)
-and finally the crowning jewel! it had a foot switch right above the rocker pedal labeled SIREN. when engaged (in any mode) it adds a slowly ramping up sine wave when engage again it slowly ramps back down, it sounds like an air raid siren!

so in short you can play surf rock licks in the middle of a hurricane during an air raid, all with one pedal! who wouldn't want that?!?!

unfortunately it sucked tone like no other so I sold it on craigslist for a pretty penny to pay my rent, i still regret it.

I think they're discontinued, but the Ravish Sitar pedal can be pretty interesting. They occasionally pop up on eBay or Craigslist in the $400-ish range.

they're not discontinued. I had one but sold it since it was only fun for a couple of hours. ;)

Thanks for all the suggestions, many tempting uselessnesses in there :)

Found the Red Panda Particle which is a contender, and Copilot Cubic (maybe fun with a filter?) but keep 'm comin.

Particle owner here, I would say thatit's just far from an "always-on" pedal. With proper knowledge of how the knobs play with/against each other, you can get incredibly unique delays with fading pitch shifting trailing notes, which is just wicked, tremelo effects, octave sliding, ambient glitches to thicken your sound, so many others....Far from useless when dialed in right. It's the special little demon that you fear may rule the world one day.

As for actually useless, +1 on the Bomber Effect on the B3. LOLz worthy.

Edit: OH YES. The Heliotrope. Now THAT is useless. What a mess...

Well, I just bought one. They're currently running arou8nd $230 new.

I was watching some Youtubes, seems like you can use them for a few other things other than sitar. But I am going for the sitar sound....I was close through a combination of effects but think I want a closer to true sitar sound. Power trio doing a blend of rap-rock Christian no less. :D IT's going on this song.

I'm surprised more people don't suggest this. If I had to pick one effect that is both amazingly fun and almost totally useless in a musical context it'd be a ring modulator. I'm in the process of saving up for the new minifooger ring, myself.

I have this pedal and use it in a few of our songs. I find it very musical compared to other Ring Mods. I think it just depends on the style of music you are playing to determine what is useful vs useless.

Out of all my effects I use my delay the least. Even though its so much fun by myself I can't seem to find places to fit it in that I think enhance the songs rather than just putting delay on because I own one.

Snarling Dogs Psycho-Scumatic Mold Spore Wah/Ring Modulator.

This is a fairly deranged pedal almost gauranteed to get you thrown out of most bands, but it's pretty entertaining to play around with.

I'm not sure, but they may be discontinued.

I hear ya on the delay. Only place I have found real use for it is a song where I have it doing 4-5 repeats at same tempo as song that is very trippy. The repeats give me time to drone a low note every 4 beats and run up neck for the other 2.5-3 without abandoning the bottom end. About once every 100 songs I'll use the delay pedal.:hmm:
