Motor City Big Block DI

I don't at the moment. I can say I was not disappointed by what it can do. If you understand the intent of it and how you would use it I don't think you would be disappointed. Changes to tone are obvious with each flip of a switch or rotation of attenuation dial.
I ordered one last night! Looking to compare to my Acme Motown DI.
It just came today and I only had a few minutes, but definitely colored and cool sounding.
I like Light/Wing and the opposite also, Heavy/Thigh.
I’ll try to get some clips together in the next few days.
I want to try with some boosts in front, dirty and clean ones.

Can you tell if it clears up/gives more detail to the midrange? That’s what the Acme DI seems to do for me. Thanks!

Well I just received it today and all I can say at the moment (will leave a more in depth review when I’m not so tired), is that if you’re on the fence, just get it!
The tonal options are more varied than the Acme DI but can still get those mellow yet refined low end and mids. However, the EQ’d low end on the more open settings pack quite a punch, really great for genres other than Motown.

I was thinking of moving it along, and I still might as I have lots of DI options, but with a clean boost in front to make up for the volume loss, there’s really good sounds in there.
I was messing around with a Pultec plug-in last night on some Motor City tracks and yum!
Have you tried it with a preamp type of pedal/box in front? If not, I highly recommend it!
Doesn’t matter what preamp pedal you put in front of it. Anything will work to drive it harder if that’s what you want. One thing is for sure. Whatever comes out will sound better through the Big Block than without.
The Tech 21 2112 Geddy Lee DI that I have on my desk at the moment. Instead of running the XLR out on the Tech 21 I used the Drive out (1/4”) with the internal blend switch on so that I get the added features of the ‘Deep’ settings. Depending on your setup (passive or active bass, etc.) make sure you engage or disengage the 1/4” +10db button on the front to make sure you get the right amount of signal to drive the Motor City DI.
I was running into the Acme DI this way for a better sounding result than the XLR out on the Tech21. The Big Block DI is even better to me.
