the mu metal shielding can looks the same but we won't know what's inside unless one is taken apart. like the altec 4722 can transformer some dude on ebay McGohan sells one that says its the same. on the groupdiy.com forum one guy took one apart and said it's nothing like the altec, don't be fooled.

but it certainly looks the part here

My experience is that this is a very nice passive DI. Prefer it to a radial JDI and also prefer it to the active countryman.

My Reddi was replaced by a Jule Monique and the Motown DI does not surpass Monique but has its uses.

For DB specifically I am very happy with the Motown DI especially if I am not bringing an amp at all. I do prefer Monique if I’m going to do any significant amount of bowing or if I have an amp on stage.

I would love to try a Monique. I am wondering if it can be had with a high impedance input? Like 20Mohm? WHat is the Monique's imp?

That’s something you’d have to ask in the Jule Thread. What I can tell you is my upright and my piezo equipped acoustic bass guitar sound REALLY great through Monique. I won’t even plug the ABG in unless I have Mo in the chain.

Thank you so much for sharing these pictures Peter! Much appreciated. Sadly, for me, there is no part no etc. I suppose I could email Triad. But, I am really tempted to bite the bullet and buy one. I love the sound of these from what I've heard online, just what I'm after. They look cool too...

My guess is it’s a fairly common part and not something exotic. If it was a cinemag they’d have left a sticker on it. Either way it is a very nice piece, I still do run my fdeck ahead of it.

On another note they did do a limited run of a tube Preamp/DI that was big bucks with a cinemag transformer. I have a friend who has one and loves it.
