Moving On...

I made the hard decision to leave a cover band that I had been with for just over a year. I moved further away from them and the travel just made the gigs not fun anymore. Not to mention, it ate into the pay after factoring in gas\time.

I've been subbing for one of the best rock\party cover bands in the Northern Virginia scene. They've wanted me to be their permanent bassist since my first "audition" with them months ago and now I'll be able to step into that roll full time.

I'll be doing about 6 gigs a month now, with really good pay, while playing some of the areas best venues.

I'm sad about having to leave the last group but the new group has me really excited for times going forward. The best part so far has been playing at places that are just overflowing with people having a good time and dancing.

Was your last band Paranormal?

Congratulations on moving to an A room band. I was talking with a friend who joined an established A room band, and he said with a grin how nice it is not to worry about trying to bring a single person in and playing to packed venues.

Ha! Not really detective work, just a wild guess that happened to be right. Just weird circumstances of timing.

I talked to your old drummer at one point about a last minute sub. When I got the song list it was nothing I could do last minute, but he made an impression as a good guy.

I've been following CL because we're advertising for a singer. I noticed their ad because of the previous contact. That's it...small world, I guess.

Haha, that's cool. I had to miss that gig because of a last minute work trip that took me out of the country. And yeah, the song list has always made getting a sub very hard since it's so all over the place.

BTW, can you send me a copy of the set list and keys of the songs for when I fill in for you next month? Still haven't gotten one from Jim.

Who says the internet is a nameless/faceless world?
Sometimes it's pretty incestuous! :D
