Bruce , you are entitled to your opinion and I respect that.
I will agree that tab and tab alone is bad but a little in moderation never hurt anybody. If players who use it as a sole means of studying music would learn to read to at least some degree I feel the would have a revalation as music would begin to make more sense to them, they would actually get it.My current instructor has no problem with tab but encourages reading/theory as well. I was sick of not being able to play something without hearing it first,learning to read as well as theory study has opened up a new world for me.
I guess part of the problem is that being an American I don't like things taken away from us. No one will ever convince me that this isn't about money and the artists will never see it, lawyers will. That has become a real problem over here, lawyers run rampent, file suits and take most of the proceeds as legal fees, look at tobbacco settlements! Billions of dollars and lawyers have taken 2/3. This will be no different.It is not about tab ,it's about money!
