MTD 635's???

ever try an ash necked MTD? how would this sound with a maple fingerboard?

J, I've played two 535's with ash necks & maple boards so far, and I'm SOLD.

It's a combination of smooth punch and P!$$ED OFF that I just dig the hell out of! I mean, it is sonic righteous indignation!!! Killer slap tone, nice and PRESENT fingerstyle tone.

I've been dreaming of a fretless bass with an ash neck, diamondwood fingerboard, swamp ash body, and bubinga top....oh the humanity!!!!



...there'd be bits and pieces of destroyed guitarists everywhere....

really? for some odd reason, i'm remembering your MTD to have some cherry like finish, but holy crap, trying out your MTD was one of the reasons why i'm considering one.

We have an Ash neck fretless MTD in-stock that sounds amazing. We also had an Ash neck, Maple board, Ash body MTD here for a bit. It sounded great and was an amazing bass for slapping. It's a very specific sound though that you need to really want. Make sure you hear one before taking the plunge. You may love it, but you may not.

I love the feel of an Ash neck. The open grain feels great under your fingers - at least to me anyway. For my personal MTD, though, I would probably choose a different fingerboard.
