MTD Bassss

I had a Tobias Growler 5 as my first 5 string and later I had a Kingston Z series. Beautiful to look at, pretty easy to play, but tone wise the Bartolini pick-ups didn't do it for me. I fought to get what I considered a good tone out of them. To be fair, I did not know what I was doing re: eq settings when I had the Tobias and that played a large part in why I couldn't get a good tone, but the Kingston, in the low end, lacked oomph, and was too mid-rangey for my tastes.
Thd Growler is all about lows @Kevorargh ... the quad coil humbucking pickup and the split preamp was an absolute innovation although I don’t know whether the design was developed in collaboration with Micheal or not

Also Mike only builds around 150 American MTDs a year. So there can’t be that many available. Most of the ones you see are most likely coming from his retail dealer network.
I think they are sold at high values also on the used market therefore they may stay on sale for a while before finding a buyer and I am under the impression that many of them are always the same ... they are simply waiting for somebody with the funds to buy them, they are not that many

Well, if it was all about lows, I never heard it. It was a cool looking set up and I eventually did get a usable tone, but the lows and highs always seemed to be lacking or not useful for me.
