MTD Kingston CRB-4???

I'm finding very little info on these. Minimal reviews, not much discussion here, etc. They also seem to be out of stock the places I've looked, though some seem to indicate they'll be getting more in, so I assume they are still in production.

Anyways, I'm curious about them. I wish they had more color options (and that the maple fingerboard option wasn't $100 more) but they seem like a well-built, budget friendly P-type bass that has a less common styling. I actually like the looks of them.

Can anyone with experience comment on them? I've watched some YouTube vids and such, but would like to hear from anyone who's owned or played one.

I won't be able to afford a decent bass for some time, and I may just end up with a used MIM Fender or something.

Yes, I'm a P guy. I also have a $500 self-imposed limit on bass purchases (though might well spend more on an amp rig )

But while I love the classic P look, I've been trying to check out variations on the P body style that--to me--still look classy and classic but a little less common and still in my price range.

So far the two contenders are this Kingston CRB-4 and the Orange O bass (which looks a bit like a Les Paul bass.)

Like I say, it's very likely I'll just end up with a straight up P bass, but these other cool but still relatively old school takes on the P really intrigue me, and there's little chance I'll be able to try one of these Kingstons or an Orange O before buying.
