Muckelroy HMC 5 Build

Starting a bass build with Brady Muckelroy and I thought I'd share. It is going to be a 32" scale (medium scale 5 string). Keeping it simple to keep costs down.
The Specs:
HMC body shape
Neck thru, 5 string, 32" scale
Walnut Wings
Maple Neck
Katalox Fingerboard
Delano Xtender Pickups
Muckelroy Preamp

Looks like you have a good one in the works. The fingerboard and body wings compliment each other greatly. Good job on your wood choices.

Congratulations! I can't see all the images (probably my computer's fault) but nice fingerboard! My first Martin Keith has a walnut body and katalox board on a maple neck and it sounds *huge*.

The string spacing is going to be 17mm. One of the great things about Brady is that he doesn't charge you extra for the scale length you chose or the string spacing you choose (as far as I can tell). Some luthiers charge up to $500 extra for 32" and 33" scale.

I see the top now. Looks great! Reminds me of a certain katalox Fodera Beez Elite that some old school TBers might remember (JM's)...but I can't find a picture at the moment. Anyway, cool bass!

17mm....nice. I've played 16mm and that was too tight for my sausage fingers, but I think 17mm would be pretty cool. I can't wait to see how this turns out. Congrats.

Actually there is no top - the Katalox you see in that pic was cut for 2 fretboards. The body wings will be solid walnut with the maple neck thru. Hopefully the body pics will come in sometime this summer. That said, I wouldn't mind seeing a pic of that Katalox topped Fodera

More progress - cuts on the neck. Pickups will be Delano SBC's instead of Extenders.

Me too. I'm always amazed when a hunk of wood turns into a beautifully carved neck.

Yes there is really something elegant about the way Brady carves the area where the headstock meets the neck. The tilt back angle is just perfect and really results in some good snap, even at 32" scale.
