Multi-Build

After a bit of a break from building, I finally got some time to work on the neck for the next bass. This is actually the one I'm most excited about... the zebrawood bass. Because I expect this one will end up being my main player, I was a little extra anal about profiling the neck. I also went a little thinner with this neck. I spent a lot of time on the transition from the neck to the body. Unfortunately in the pics I didn't have the neck slid all the way in to the body, but when properly fitted, the transition from the neck to body is very smooth - almost like a set neck or neck through. Once I have the neck properly mounted to the body, I'll refine it a little more. Given that winter is just around the corner, it's hard to say how much further I'll get with this one. I suppose if I can get a few more evenings in to finish up the woodworking, it's conceivable that I could get it sprayed before the really cold weather hits.

We've had abnormally warm weather the past few days, and I was fortunate to be able to take advantage of it a little. I got the threaded inserts installed and the pickup and control cavity routes finished up. Also radiused the fingerboard. I spent some time sanding the body and doing a little more work on the contours. I even shot it with a quick coat of sealer to see how it was going to look with a finish.
