Multi-instrument stands

Avoid anything from Hercules.
I have owned a couple of triple instrument stands from this maker that were gifted to me.
I'm glad I didn't buy them cause they suck. They simply fall apart as they are used.
It's almost as if these units were built to be quickly obsolete.
Total crap.

I'll have to disagree somewhat. Can't speak for their multi-instrument stands. But I have a few of their single instrument stands, and they've performed just fine for me for more than a few years. Mine are also very well made. Nothing cheap or junky about them at all AFAICT.

I guess this is another one of those YMMV things.

I have a 5 guitar one like the Rock Stand one--I like it--but I like the others as well.
I got the one I did based on price, with also making sure the quality was good.
I do like the one in the case as it would easier to carry.

But they're great to have at home if you have multiple instruments & you like to play more than one in a practice session or for just playing.
Or if you are recording different parts--it's more convenient & quicker to switch instruments.

One great benefit of having a multi stand is that I have two guitars and two basses always ready to plug and go, which means there are times I might not have bothered playing if the guitars were boxed away even in the same room, and I end up playing for a few minutes.

If anyone is interested, I made two of these a long time ago and they worked great. I now have my basses/guitars hanging on walls and gave these racks away.

The fittings are taper-fit so you can just smack them together and they hold tight, but you can glue them if ya want to.

3/4" (ID) Pipe... Elbows x14... Tees x16... 2"x8... 3-1/2"x7... 6"x2... 8"x8... 18-1/2"x4... 29"x2... 1" foam insulation

That foam is exactly what the OP wants to avoid with his nitro finishes though.

As a previous poster mentioned, easily fixed, dollar store dishtowels for cotton covers, I might be trying the pvc route soon. I think I'd use Ts instead of elbows for the middle "locks", assuming they can still be turned, at least.

Exactly what I need! Just expanded my studio and need a bigger rack for all my basses and guitars. The cool thing about this is that it's customize-able and expandable. Definitely a GAS enabler. Buy another axe, just add another section.
