Multi scale Rockbass Warwick Corvette

I'm another one that wishes if they're going to do multi-scale, they should go to 37" on the low B. I have a 35" 5'er, and I can't tell any difference in the way it sounds between it and the 34" ones. It may be a litter nicer when downtuning, but again, not that noticeable.

Rondo has them from time to time: [Invalid or Expired Link Removed].

Again, this one also only goes to 35" on the low B. I have a Brice 5'er, and it's a great bass. I'd put it up against any of the sub 1K Ibby or LTD basses (which I also like) in terms of quality.

I’ve thought about getting the Brice ones for a while. Do you happen to have any pics?

Its hard to tell what its like from the rondo pics. They kinda make everything look bad if you ask me.

Why not extend the painted headstock to the the nut rather than leaving bare wood?
I think they do this to save money. It’s actually not painted, it’s a piece of plastic a few mm’s thick, which is machined to match all of their other headstocks, so I’m guessing getting another batch machined just for this would come at a higher price point (since there’d be less of them)

They probably can’t make that huge of a jump in scale length without radically modifying that iconic body
Agree with this.

Quite a lot of posts mentioning Warwick 5 or more strings basses, which mostly are 34" scale, to have problems on neck-body balance (or what we would call as neck dive problem). I'd imagine extending the multi-scale lengths to Dingwall's 34-37 inches would definitely require Warwick to redesign the iconic body, or else they would need to use substantial heavier materials for the body.

Thought half the purpose was to get more tension on the bigger strings...somone correct me but are a,d,g left with a short scale length?
Yes, half the purpose to get more tension on the bigger strings, but the A, D, G aren't short scale.

The scale lengths are 34" - 35.5", which mean that:
G is 34",
D is 34.375",
A is 34.75",
E is 35.125", and
B is 35.5",

so the A, D, G are in fact still longer than those on most parallel fretted Warwick 5 string basses which scale lengths are all 34".

I would bet that cort makes these along with the current ff Ibanez basses, and that's how the ibby basses are too. Cost saving measure.
My thought is the same. It's like the traits of Cort's productions are there on this Warwick multi-scale to lower the production costs.

Wow yeah that's a lot. I haven't been looking at Warwicks much these past five years but weren't the Rockbasses like in the $700 range?

This is year later and I stumbled across this thread as I saw the Multiscale Corvette on the website but yes Rock Bass used to be under $900 all day. Kinda like how a MIM Fender used to be $500 and now they're $900 YEARS ago.

I’ve had Dingwall ABZ5 and NG2 with the 34-37” scale and currently own an SPJ5 with a 32-35” scale. The 37” B string sounds more piano like and works better for down tuning, while to my ear the 35” B has a more traditional timbre. Two different flavors of good. I also have an Ibanez SRMS805 with a 34-35.5” scale (upgraded with Zen Blade pickups and a Darkglass pre) whose B string is similar and every bit as solid as the Dingwall SPJ5. For the 35.5” B, I really like the less extreme 1.5” fan which is more subtle and easier to play on the higher frets but still gives improved string to string balance.

String to string spacing is 16.5mm and fingerboard radius is 26” on this Warwick multiscale according to the Thomann website. Nice looking bass.

@5StringPocket thats great info to have in mind.

I’d love to see them do a full 37-33.3 FF on the better balancing Fortress with a P/JJ and a modern sweeping-mid 3 band pre, but carve the top round like the Thumb rather than with those two flat surfaces awkwardly joining on top.

They are doing like Ibanez, 35.5-34”. After playing a Dingwall NG3, I say copy Dingwall and do the 37-33” for sixes and 37-34” for fives spread. It sounds massive!
Meh, Cort made Ibanez with Corvette body shape. 35.5-34? Can't see a huge benefit.

Maybe now they'll offer a 35" parallel fret instruments (rockbass)

Why not? Cor-tek makes their own, and the Ibanez .

Perchance this will prompt G&L to add multi/extended scales to their offerings. Ooooh Squire?

I don’t think it’s so much about that. I think it’s more so about the strings. For example I have to order special strings online for my 37” Dingwall. At 35.5 scale you can still run down to your local guitar center and buy a variety of strings that will work, there are zero String options for me locally for my Dingwall. The winding length is not long enough so a regular string tapers down before it reaches the nut and won’t work. I have to order sets online.

Im considering this bass to replace my jazz 5 as my number two (my number one is a Dingwall) and then I can take my time converting my jazz to a Fretless(always wanted a Fretless jazz 5) . But we’ll see. I’ve been wanting to get a custom made instrument and also there are a lot of cool multiscale basses coming out soon. I think the Dingwall D-roc standard 5 will be tough to beat as it’ll likely be the most affordable 5 string Dingwall you can buy. So this rockbass would have to be considerably more affordable to get me to bite. Oh and yeah I’m pretty sure the D-roc 5 standard will debut at namm

Doesn't Payson make Dingwall sets too?

So, did anyone actually try it? Could not find any videos for some reason. Back it the day RB was straight up overpriced junk, but their later iterations with Warwick bridges and real MEC electronics like RB Vampyre and Corvette $$ shook my anti RB bias pretty hard. I'm considering buying an affordable multiscale and was surprised RB offers some.
