If / When the 2022 Cirrus comes out, I sure hope you have the original Cirrus DNA like the preamp, shape more or less, and not just make another Spector copy of a Peavey copy.

I could imagine seeing a Peavey Cirrus / Spector Euro hybrid so to speak. The look and DNA of a Cirrus and the size of a Spector, so a little sleeker. Like Jason X Leaner and meaner and ready for outer space. (Horror movie reference for those curious...)


Personally, the Cirrus is one of the BEST basses I've ever owned and I own 4 now and have owned about 10. I've had about 40 go through my hands and EVERY SINGLE one of them set up exactly the same. 10 /10.

The one thing I've ALWAYS dreamed of in a (custom) Cirrus is a bolt on with VFL P/J, but I own both a bolt on Cirrus and an RJIV, so I'm covered, but I'd have liked to see a P/J as an option.

The other is side LED's. I actually had my #1 get upgraded to LED's and I don't regret it one bit.

Hey Fred, I've been lurking on here for a few days and gathering my thoughts.

I'm a former tech at a Peavey repair center in SW Ohio and a Huge Cirrus fan. (I worked sales a bit also, but I suck as a salesman) I would love to see the Peavey name come back in force. I started out with an old beat up Combo 300 in high school and moved to a T-Max with a 410TXF and a 210TXF. Great cabinets, just too heavy when I have no help.

I dont really have much to add to the multi scale aspect of this thread. The small chain store I used to work for closed due to the big box stores moving in. Those same big box stores have a poor selection of mid to high end basses. They might have the Ibanez, but no Dingwall or anything else.

That said, I would definitely be interested in trying out a Cirrus 34-37". I love the 35" scale, the string tension just feels right. I actually have more of an issue with 34" and especially shorter basses. Short scales are a hard pass.

Given the opportunity to build my own bass, I would actually have a Cirrus with a few changes. Keep the 2x2 angled headstock, laminated neck trough, nice top...
I would want to add a volute, USA Hipshot hardware (string through the body optional) piezo bridge, 3-band onboard with an active/passive switch, and the (passive) pickup arrangement of a Peavey Millennium plus an extra bridge pickup to mimic a Warwick Thumb. I bought a USA Cirrus to modify, adding most of these wants (no volute) with some other goodies, thread is here if anyone is interested. The North coil of the MM and the bridge single coil are where the Thumb bass pickups are located. Time will tell if it pulls it off.

The neck pickup can't be closer to the neck than the neck pickup on the Cirrus.

When I worked at the retail store, the Cirrus generated a lot of interest. I hate to say it, but the most common reason customers would get something else was that it said Peavey on the headstock. "Why would I want to spend this much money for a Peavey when I could get a USA Fender?". Our store also carried Pedulla, Roscoe, Zon, Fender, and US Masters. So there was some stiff competition. Minus the US Masters, they were kind of odd. I truly think a modern bass from Peavey would do better if it had a different name on the headstock. The vintage-appreciating crowd wanting Super Ferrites and such would buy a Peavey because they can look past a name and see the value offered. My 2 cents.

I agree about the volute ! That is a reason why I love my Alembic Orion. It has a nice, big volute. I have no idea if they help in balance, but they sure feel good.

Yeah, it sucked and I didn't make much. But I gained a lot of experience and had first dibs at gear (new and used) coming in the door at 10% over cost.

Volute! I fell for it with my old Ibanez SR800. I wish my Warwick Fortress Masterman had one.

I've been busy putting the final touches on some new Trace Pro gear (which is AMAZING) and obviously some cool new bass guitar stuff. Since I'm a bass player as well ..this is the kind of thing I get excited about. Just so y'all know the first move is going to be the rebirth of the Cirrus, with some major improvements ...this is info just for the everyone here ...we have made no official announcement yet...and then the next steps will more than likely add a lot of everyones suggestions. If I haven't gotten back to each one of you - I apologize, everything has been crazy busy and with the holidays I got out of the loop a little. Really do appreciate everyone here. What I can tell you is that is one kick ass piece of the rig you are about to see -

My only experience with a Peavey was my very first bass, a Millennium BXP 5. It had a beautiful almost iridescent flame finish that switched from purple to dark grey depending on the lighting.
Unfortunately the bridge was installed slightly on the piss so changing the B and E strings was impossible (through body ). The store took it back of course, but didn't have another Peavey. I took a Yamaha BBN5II (great bass, an absolute workhorse) but I've always missed that Peavey.

A 6-string multiscale Cirrus or something would probably incur a purchase from me, especially if it was actually available in Europe

Must be higher grade then Ibanez. Not that they are a benchmark or anything…. Well maybe on the low end.
Made in USA is my hopes.

Satin finish, bubinga/walnut/maple woods(some wenge in the neck(?)), birdseye or Ebony fretboards, peavey electronics or maybe a Darkglass preamp….. maybe EMG or Fishmann could be fun options…. And Please, Neckthru!

Checking back in to see if there was an announcement that I missed (and there isn't...), so I also checked the Peavey website (nothing there). What was depressing was seeing the Milestone basses are "Expected Soon! May 20, 2022". If the models Peavey is talking about are over 3 months away, what does that mean for the ones they aren't talking about yet?

Hey guys - sorry for being MIA - hard at work here - I went to NAMM, but we (along with many other brands) decided not to exhibit in June. We really weren't sure how it would go and we were exhibiting at infocomm the very next week ...so it was a bad timing. Next year NAMM looks like its in April, with the following year back to Jan. We haven't made any decisions yet, but we will more than likely participate.

Not sure about the Milestone comment - we have those in stock now - working hard on the new project - trying to get things wrapped up by the end of the year. It's frustrating sometimes how long things can take - but it will be worth the wait, has to be right! Thanks for everyone here helping out - your comments and suggestions are really appreciated.
