I thought so too until I googled it. Just shy of $2k at most retailers. Looks a lot better in that context. Good find!
Oh I gotcha. I've done well with mail order from them but there isn't one in my town.
This is true. I remember it from such purchases as my cheap hi hats, and my black Polytune.
I've only been in the Natick (MA) store once just to look around when it first opened in 2010. They had a few interesting basses at that time, but I haven't needed to return as I've only bought two pieces of equipment since then and both were off of Craigslist.
I just checked their website and there are 16 basses listed for over $1,000! Is this typical? Alembic, Lakland, MM, Spector, a '74 Fender P and a '78 Fender J. Those are out of my price range but they did have a black and maple Peavey Fury for $225 and a red and maple Fury for $200 which is more of my speed. Good selection of cabs - Eden, G-B, G-K, Ampeg, Harke, but not so much on the amps. I'm not looking to buy either.

I have purchased numerous items from my local store have been great. I have also bought a few items on their site from other locations. I always got cheaper shipping by calling the store. Even haggled down the price on some items too.
Seems like a great price on a US Lakland, $1500 for a 44-14 w/ free shipping on Reverb. Says it’s been listed for 6 months but maybe there was a recent price drop? Or maybe it’s not as sweet of a deal as I think?

I know there are folks out there that collect some of the 60's and 70's Japanese stuff, the stuff from the days that they look cool now, but they were so-so quality at best, even when they looked cool. If this is you, it looks like there is a cool looking Kay K-2B "sorta" EB-3 copy at the Greenfield, WI store for $180. Note that this is from the late 60's or early 70's after Kay shut down all production in Chicago. This seems to be a pretty fair price as sometimes the asking price is quite a bit higher for these in good shape. This looks good on the www, but haven't seen in person.

If you are around Lincoln, NE, this Spector NS-2J SE may be worth checking out... NY, 2010, one of the nicest looking bolt on, hand made Spectors I have seen, and at a very fair (these days) price now that Stuart has retired.
