I dislike Music Go Round.

Ordered a 6 string BTB 846v custom shop,
MGR sent me a 5 string BTB , that was altered there was a solid badass bridge put on it all the wood under was destroyed by screws , and they actually altered the serial number, Straight up lied to me about it . I got my money back , lawyer scared the hell out of them. so they said keep the bass+ 800.00 refund.
Got it Repaired for 300 somethin
They fkd with the wrong BASS PLAYER
and paid for it

For a while the Brubaker Brute series got a lot of really positive feedback around here. Often a bit on the heavy side, but great playing if you like 19mm spacing, and even with the stock pickups, quite good sounding. There is one in Cary, NC that has a Hipshot bridge rather than the stock BB405, what looks like an upgraded preamp (has an extra control that the original doesn't have, a custom Brubaker made pickguard, and what appears to be Bartolini pickups (hard to tell in the photo, but they don't have the Brute logo in the corner), which seems to be a good deal for $500. If this was local to me, I would strongly consider buying it. Since this is a JJX, it is originally had two J pickups (the JJ), and (supposedly) is second generation (updated pickups and preamp) which would be irrelevant as both look to be swapped out.

I like visiting their stores when I go back to my home state of MN. I bought a guitar and some cheap cables (from the $5 bin - good deals to be had there) and have found things to drool over on their site, but haven't gotten anything else from them.

This is looks like a sweet deal on a first generation (mid 90's) Gibson era Tobias Growler 5 at the Columbus, OH store. Cool bass with one Bart pickup, but a separate preamp for each coil, much like the Warwick Masternman series of the day. Lightweight and tons of sounds in this thing if you are into the fairly narrow spacing. By the photos, it looks to be in decent (but played) condition. It does not have the hard case that these shipped with.

I usually don't see cool bass related stuff, or any other "real cool", in my mind, stuff in either the Detroit area stores, but have turned up some really nice stuff when I used to drive through Columbus, OH periodically.

I ordered a used 6 str. Ibanez BTB 846v from a music go round in Ohio , not Columbus though.
I actually called the store before I ordered to make sure the bass was still in the store , ready to sell.
Employee said YES I'm looking at it right now.
I ordered the 6 string , What they sent me was a 5 string BTB 745 , I didn't even notice right away , .
*** this isn't the bass I ordered , AND then I noticed this bass had a different bridge , again *** ?
And the serial number was half gone.
They sent me the wrong bass, and it was a fkn stolen bass . and then the fkn manager tried to lie his way out of it.
He failed miserably ,
I did get my money back , but not before I scared the crap out of him .
when I told them
I was gonna sue the poopie out of music go round.
I still have that bass and got my money back too
and I ordered the 6 string from somewhere else music go round learned a valuable lesson or not
Either way I got a free IBANEZ BTB 745ntl

Sorry to hear of your bad experience. Personally, I have only had one experience of getting an item not up to par from MGR, and when I called the manager asked me to send photos and by themed of the day the had sent a UPS tag, and reimbursed me 100% as soon as they got the instrument back. The manager was pretty upset that it was sold without anyone noticing that the truss rod was maxed out and the neck not only bowed but had a nice twist going on.

My biggest negative about MGR is that as individual franchises they don't have the shipping deals GC has.

I have bought from some of the local music go round stores that have popped up and disappeared over the years in my area and have found that the guitar gear deals are much more prevalent than the bass deals. Their pricing has become a little more consistent.

Have you inspected the bass for a “Used” stamp anywhere (usually imprinted into the finish on the rear of the headstock, sometimes lightly)? When factory instruments show up with issues or get returned by a customer due to issues often times they’ll get sent to an authorized refurbisher that will repair it (sometimes using non-original parts) then resell, but part of that process is always to remove the end part of the original serial number and put that “Used” mark somewhere on the instrument so that it can always be recognized later as a refurb

The first MGR in my area (which closed a few years back) bought a few of the Washburn AB40 acoustic-electric basses once Washburn ended that line. The first one they received had a dead preamp that wasn’t disclosed by whomever sold it to them. Luckily they caught that one at unboxing at the store but I would imagine that sometimes a dud slips through.

I would imagine your BTB could have been part of an acquisition such as that.

It did for me.

I got that part. I’m just talking about the scratched off serial number part of the bass they sent you and how they could have fleas one of those basses in stock in the first place. Them sending the wrong bass is sheisty to a fault.
