Music Man Bass

I have a classic stingray with the gloss neck and love it. It's mint green and plays like a dream. I agree that there really is nothing for evreyone. I tried a few before this one and always get compliments on its look and sound. You won't be disappointed.

I played a new MM SR 4 string at a local music store and it felt nothing like one of my friends older SR 4. The neck on the new bass felt cheap to me. The neck on my $279 OLP copy felt just as good as the new MM SR 4. My freinds bass felt solid and had a much more aggressive MM sound than the new bass I tried. The new ones feel like watered down versions. They still get the MM sound but they don't feel the same as the older models.
As many have said, they are not for everyone. The reason IMO is purely the tone because the playability and build quality are very high. Music Man basses are very aggressive compared to a Fender J and especially a Fender P. I have a US Sterling and I like it a lot, but you need to ensure you like "that tone" before buying.
I've yet to meet one I've fallen in love with. I do think the Bongo's are kind of cool but I'd need to mess around with one before coming to a decision. I know a lot of people stand by them though so it's just personal taste (as with everything).

All I play is Music Man basses exclusively now. I'm actually in the process of selling off all of my Ibanez basses simply because they no longer get used. The thing I like about the basses is they all have great tones, they are very versatile basses, the craftsmanship is top notch but if you do have an issue the company has great customer service but these basses last forever and keep there re-sale value very well. I like the Stingrays and own 1 Classic and 1 traditional one but I love their Bongo's. I eventually want to own at least one or two of each model made by the company though.
