I had a similar problem at first, did you try raising the pick up at all? I did and my Ray stopped sounding washed out in the mix, felt more pronounciated

No, the original nut was broken on the G string slot and with replaced in 2015 with a custom brass nut.Great neck ! I wasn't aware that the early ones had a brass nut. Was this standard ?
Long story short: The original 1998 neck was broken after a bad outdoor gig ended with a rainstorm that tore down the entire stage in 2004..This is an odd one. There are only three face dots after the 12th fret (a pre-EB feature), but the string tree is between the A and D strings (an EB feature). There should be a date stamp on the neck heel, if you want to find out!
