This is an odd one. There are only three face dots after the 12th fret (a pre-EB feature), but the string tree is between the A and D strings (an EB feature). There should be a date stamp on the neck heel, if you want to find out!
Long story short: The original 1998 neck was broken after a bad outdoor gig ended with a rainstorm that tore down the entire stage in 2004..
I've found through my local luthier the pre-Ernie one without string tree hole drilled and without the holes drilled in the neck to match the body.. So I decided to place the string tree in the "modern" position, and also, the neck is obviously connected to the body with 6 screws instead of 3 or four.

Hello all! I just picked up a beautiful Musicman StingRay 4 HS NT.

Sounds and plays great, but had a couple questions I am hoping some one familiar with the HS configuration can help me with.

When I go from the first position to the second position on the 5 way switch, I get a drop in volume. This also happens in a few of the other positions. Is this normal with this configuration? Also, I am getting some single pick up hum in certain positions as well. Just wondering if this stuff is normal or the nature of the beast. Thanks for your help!
