Music Man Stingray - Rock?

Hi guys!

I have major GAS for a Music Man Stingray. My question is: Does it fit rock music? I've allways heard that they are really clean sounding and I don't know if it would sound good with a little bit of grind/light distortion.

My problem is that I have one in hand for 600€ which would be shipped to me but I can't try one out because there aren't any Stingray's near where I live.

Yeah, they'll do all kinds of genres of music well. They pretty much give you the prototypical "active scooped" sound, although with the onboard EQ you can do quite a bit with it to get some substantial mids as well. I've been very pleased with mine.

I couldn't really say, not having owned a 2-band model. Some will say the 2-band is better, others prefer the 3-band. I haven't felt limited in any way or unhappy with the tone on my 3-band. Mine is a 4-string HH, BTW.

I own both. I like them equally. I piunch up the mids on my amp a little when I'm playing the two band..

The answer is yes. 600e is a good price. I like my 2 bands but the 3 band can't be too bad. There is some serious midrange if you don't boost the EQ too much.

If I turn the Mid-control half way up (or down) will it sound like the 2bd?

Somewhat, different preamps. The both sound like Stingrays.

A stingray is a high endbass you like to keep for a life time. 600 $ crazy cheap for it.
Blasko from Ozzy Osbourne plays a stingray and he cant be too wrong. With an Ampeg or Orange Stack the stingray sounds killer.

Does a stingray "do" rock? It chews it up then spits it out. This is THE bass for metal, and I think if it can handle metal it'll do alright in rock.

Max I would pay for a used Stingray is $750. You can find them all the time popping up on Craigslist. I like them but I would only buy the HH model now. More tone options.
