They are real versatile.
I currently own a 2band and a 3 band, I find myself reaching for the 2 band more often, but the difference is compensated by your amp eq as said before.
As far as pickup configs I owned the HS, HH and single H models, I kept the single H and sold the rest.
The HH pickups are big and get on the way for slap, the HS I did not care for.
Some will disagree, but the true stingray is the H model.
My 2 cents.

To the OP.. Yea they are great.. I play a 4H with EB group 3 flats, and it rocks as hard as I can make it.. The harder I dig in the more aggressive it sounds..

I believe the bassist in "Disturbed" plays a stingray 5 so you should be fine.

They are hella versatile. Tone wise, it can do anything from Country and western to face melting metal. MM SR4 is a must in my collection.

I love my rays. I own both a 2 band stingray classic and a 3 band single humbucker. I find myself going for the 3 band more. Only because its already beat up my classic is unscratched at the moment haha.

Hi guys!

I have major GAS for a Music Man Stingray. My question is: Does it fit rock music? I've allways heard that they are really clean sounding and I don't know if it would sound good with a little bit of grind/light distortion.

My problem is that I have one in hand for 600€ which would be shipped to me but I can't try one out because there aren't any Stingray's near where I live.

Ever heard Fugazi? Yeah, that's a Stingray. Stingrays are all over rock music. I'll take a Stingray over anything Fender makes any day.

3 band and 2 band sound totally different. No, you can't sent the 3 band to sound like the 2 band, or vice versa. Pick one and go with it. Both are great.

Max I would pay for a used Stingray is $750. You can find them all the time popping up on Craigslist. I like them but I would only buy the HH model now. More tone options.

Would love to find one offered for so low a price.
