Hear hear! I'm open to new music but I can't tell what indie is SUPPOSED to be any more. It used to mean rock backed by small labels but now it seems to be "secular emo I-V-vi-IV music played by large groups of people who hit things".
I got that Milk music app and dialed in an indie station...listened in my shop via headphones for several hours. That stuff is a lot more generic and unoriginal than any of it's fans or players will ever care to admit.
Though I was kinda disappointed at this because I was looking for some new originality, I also remembered that what happens in music is often a reflection of what's happening in society. Is it possible that raising an entire generation under crushing debt in wartime with a politically correct mentality killed their tendancy to vocalize rebellion through music?
