Can anyone recommend a superior light for my music stand that has power, is relatively light and won't break the bank? I've seen many online with dismal ratings. Thanks.

I bought the one a few years ago that's brighter than any other stand light I've seen and is cheaper. The battery part gave up the ghost but I just use an AC adapter with it.

I use an Aria Diva light. I don't know if you are willing to have it plug in, but I absolutely love the amount of light this thing puts out. It easily lights up two pages from top to bottom. It's made out of metal, so I imagine it will last a lot longer than the plastic ones, and they say the LEDs are good for like 40 years. (I don't imagine I'll still be playing bass by then!) It does plug in though, and that's surely why it is so bright. I usually don't have a problem finding an outlet at gigs, but that might be a consideration for you.

I like the cordless Kliplite and it's popular with local classical and pit band musicians. Eight LED's, very low power consumption, nice even lighting, good solid clip.

I have a couple of the Mighty Bright Duo lights and they're okay. The batteries really don't last all that long; 2-3 shows and they already start to diminish. They have one that has an adaptor that I'd go for the next time I'm needing lights.
I've been using a Mighty Bright 6-LED gooseneck that clips onto my music stand that works great. It uses 2 AAA batteries, so no power cord needed. They have a Orchestra light on their site with 9 LEDs and 3 AAs that has an AC adapter available. Found a lamp at Staples that clipped onto my stand. It does need to be plugged in, but it is plenty bright and was $13.
I got my wife one of those Mighty Bright Duets a year or so ago and she loves it. Based on her response I got one for my son and my dad too. My son, (typical 14 year old) always forgets to bring it so I don't think he ever used it. But my dad loves his, too.
My wife and dad don't do a lot of shows, so I can't really comment on battery life for regular use. But they do like the lights. My dad's also has the AC adapter, so he always plugs it in for home use. If my wife's came with the adapter, I've never seen her use it (she only uses it at shows).
