Musician's Friend question

I know there are those who loathe MF.

There are also just as many that feel they are great.

For me, something about having a 45 day return policy gives me the warm and fuzzies when buying music gear online.

I do have a question about their shipping policies.

I ordered 4 items from them yesterday. These are all items that could fit into one box.

They shipped them in 4 separate shipments.

Shipping was free, so I don't care too much, but that has to eat into their profit, big time.

How can they do this and remain profitable?

Probably, they have a huge amount of business, and most people having just one packet. You being an exception.

I placed an order at Thomann (one of the biggest retailer in Europe like MF). They shipped me 2 packets, and another one back ordered later. All 3 packets were shipped free of charge from Germany to France.

It's crazy to me. If they just placed all the items in one box, they'd have to save money? Maybe their dist. center is so huge that combining all the items in one box is more costly as far as labor goes?

Not sure, but I think there might be several distribution points, so your items may have been shipped from different locations.

I have had them combine items in the past.

Hey bassgod76,
Skaught from Musician's Friend here. Our goal is to send packages and efficiently as we can with keeping safety in mind. Some times simply because of pick location in the warehouse it will mean the products will ship in separate boxes, but most of the time we are able to put multiple items in one box. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to let me know. I can be reached at [email protected]. Thanks!

Skaught,
First, your associate Chris helped me get a killer deal yesterday. It's no inconvenience to me. I was just wondering how it affects MF's bottom line. I feel bad for you guys that a bass, stand, strings, and feedback cover were all sent in separate packages. I'm sure it's an Ops Mgmt issue that has been addressed, and is the most efficient, cost effective way to get products sent.
