Musicians Friend ships to Canada really!!

I was looking at a Fender Jazz FSR ash body natural that I desperatly want. They say ship to Canada but I tried and it says that it is not avaliable to ship to my address:crying:. So I tried a blacktop Jazz, same thing:crying::crying:.Then I noticed that there has to be a canadian flag next to the price for items they ship to the Great White North. So I did some searching and looks like atleast no basses ship to us. Anyone know what the hell is up with this??????

Retailers are bound contractually not to export many brand's products to other countries, because the manufacturers have seperate dealerships in those countries.

You may be able to get around it by shipping it to a shipping service that gives you a US address for the bass to be shipped to. One example is Borderlinx. But I believe there are more than one choice. Check your local forums to determine which service provider is better for your country. Some of them may have hidden costs and stuff, so better check them out beforehand.

I will, I am a regular at L&M. They love my $$$. However I don't think they can help me on this Fender fsr jazz. It seems that is was just made for Musicians Friens aka Guitar Center. Hense the :crying:. If I had a passport I would drive to Montana and order one there, but that would take atleast 6 weeks of the wife nagging me about buying another bass :D

I've been quoted lower prices than MF by L&M and Tom Lee (only in BC). Never accept the tag price. There is always room for negotiation.

The posters in your thread are correct. It's Fender (EBMM does it as well) who regulates that Canadians must buy new instruments through a Canadian retailer. However, you are entitled to purchase any used item from US regardless of manufacturer.

OR... I'm not sure if you have similar companies along the AB/MT border, but along the BC/WA border, there are companies which will receive packages on your behalf for a small fee. You will cross the border and pick it up from them yourself. There's a bonus that you can take advantage of all the Free Shipping sales in the US. You will not have to pay brokerage to any companies because you are the person carrying the item over the border.

I doubt the border security guards bother to deal Fender/EBMM politics. However, always declare the item and be ready to pay duty/taxes. Sometimes you will luck out and the border guard will just wave you through. (It feels like you just won a small lottery. lol)

L&M always seems to match MF pricing, or close to it - plus no customs brokerage fees! I only buy used gear from the US. the local used gear market is out to lunch in Halifax. Rarely are there new-ish items and pricing is almost always out of whack with what I see on talkbass. That's the reason I first became a member!

L&M told me they only match Canadian Websites not ones like MF...I guess you guys can talk better then me
