Warm lights = armpit sweat stains. So black isn't a bad choice.
I'm fashion illiterate. Black matches any color, so when I need to look respectable...black pants, black shoes. Black jacket optional.
ive heard good guys wear black....plus it helps if you work on leaky old motorcycles,and get covered in essence ''O'' 50wt..
In an orchestral or venue setting, opt for a dark navy suit or tux. Under stage lighting, navy appears black but black has a nasty, unnatural green sheen in some instances. Learned this from a couple of lighting directors.

The only thing black doesn’t hide well is egg yolk. If you’re a touring musician, black holds up well, esp if you don’t eat breakfast.

Kibble, milkbones, and P Basses. And redheads.
Black blends into dark backgrounds. You can end up looking like hears floating around. I like either my shirt or pants to be a dark, but bright , color.
