Musicman clones

Here is a link to a chinese web site, who have for sale OLP MM's & my guess is actual musicman copies down to the logo (must be for that price)

Invalid Link Removed

I've never tried them, so can't confirm trustworthyness etc

Cheers

Andrew

At least you can customize those Music Man basses. LOL!

Zombie thread!

Resurrecting it because I just snagged an Arbor Stingray copy earlier this week.

Like the OP, I'm surprised by mine. Got it CHEAP.

Aside from looks, it's nothing much like the real deal. Passive, for one thing.

But it's a decent bass for an MIC El Cheapo knockoff.

Wow...I haven't seen this thread in a long time. and yeah it may not seem like the real deal, but it was something. I have since then moved on to other basses.

It’s a shame companies like MM and Rickenbacker don’t offer a Squier price range line like Fender does. I know several companies including MM, Lakland, G&L, etc make a line overseas priced similarly to Fender’s MIM or Chinese/Korean models versus their American-made models. But the Squiers these days are excellent value, even the entry level models like the Affinities. I’d love to own a cheap entry level Rick or Stingray. The lack of them pushes people to buy unauthorized knock offs, and *creates* a knock off market.

EDIT: this is like the fourth time this week I’ve replied to a zombie thread without realizing it.

The SUB series are pretty close in price to a Squier, and in my opinion are of equal quality to a Squier VM.

Sterling Ray34/35 series are in a price league of their own, so more like a MIM, and a deluxe MIM at that.

I've got a used Ray 35 incoming, and already own a SUB Ray 4. Really happy with the SUB Ray 4, it cops the Ray tone and plays super nice. I've got the action down to 2-2.5mm across the board with no buzz unless i dig. Not bad for a $500AUD bass.

Are SUBs still being made? My local stores don’t carry them. Yet they carry MM and have entire walls full of Squiers.
