I did a similar thing on my last Warmoth build, but with a roasted J body and neck. The PU was a Nordy and the pre was a Mojotone 2 band clone. I call it a JayRay. It very quickly became my #1.
Also:
Good choice on the DiMarzio ClipLock!
(the bass is rad too!)
I'd call it a PreRay, for a bit of a double meaning.
I'd highly recommend it! I have a Matt Freeman P with an MFD in it (passive, parallel/series/singlecoil switchable) and it sounds amazing. Definitely a more aggressive bass, but scope to dial it back a bit, for sure.
Was lucky enough to get it modded used, seller did a good job with the pickguard. Best thing about it, it's completely reversible if I want to switch back to a standard P.
