I'd highly recommend it! I have a Matt Freeman P with an MFD in it (passive, parallel/series/singlecoil switchable) and it sounds amazing. Definitely a more aggressive bass, but scope to dial it back a bit, for sure.

Was lucky enough to get it modded used, seller did a good job with the pickguard. Best thing about it, it's completely reversible if I want to switch back to a standard P.

Phase 2 of the Mod is about to begin. The 2nd pick up showed up last night so now its time to cut the pick guard and rout a hole to turn it to a modified HH.

How it started

Phase one of the Mod completed
-Pickup and electronics out of '78 Stingray installed.
-Modified pick guard
-New Bridge

Got the 2nd pick up wired in today and did many tests on pickup placement until I got my sweet spots. I was originally going to wire in a switch but I love the sound I'm getting with both pups together so its going to stay like this for now. The pickguard was a pain in the ass bit I am super happy with this build and this is by far my favourite bass of all time!

Also finding with the pick up placement and the 2nd pup being a MM copy that I'm getting a mix between a stingray and a Warwick streamer. Very cool

here is mine...has a John East 2 band MM Preamp and a MM SUB pickup

strung with DR Black Beauties for now but they take all the zip out of the bass so I'll be restringing with DR High Beams
