Musicman Sabre Club

Here is my new to me Sabre, can I get a number?

FYI: Well, friends, correct me if I'm wrong, but it appears the Classic Sabre is most definitely out of production:

-The list of basses on the EBMM site no longer includes the Classic Sabre:
Basses

-The direct link to the Classic Sabre from Google is "404 Error":
http://www.music-man.com/instruments/guitars/sabre.html

-Via email communications with the fine folks at Bass Central, when asked if the Classic Sabre model is being completely phased out as of last weekend, the response was "yes".

Strange, since the Classic Sabre was only back for not even three years.

Of course, correct me if I'm wrong, but this appears to be rather definitive evidence that it's gone.

Dang - looks like it IS gone - I posted on the EB forum in the discontinued thread - someone mentioned the Sabre going away again for the third time and I made a comment on it. I'd say that if it's off their site, then it's gone. It WAS confusing though - at first, it looked like just some of the colors were going away. I was one of the people who used to post on there about bringing the Sabre back - and Sterling would say it didn't sell back then - and it wouldn't sell again if he put if back in production, so I was really shocked when they DID bring it back. At least I got a nice pair of them - keepers!

I, too, vaguely remember Sterling Ball saying something along the lines of the Sabre would never be brought back...but then here comes version 3.0 beginning of 2013. Oh well, fun while it lasted. I always regretted selling my 80's Sabre many years ago, glad I got a chance to "re-stock" the herd!

As for the German site, my guess is that @FenderOli is correct: old stock or the site has yet to be updated, because they are also listing all of the colors that were available for the Sabre.

I wonder what they will be coming out with, as far as any "new" designs, if any. The Sabre really helped to offset an otherwise monochromatic lineup, IMHO.

I did the same thing - sold a Sabre in the 80s - it was an interesting story - a local guitar shop here in So Cal had been to the auction during the sale to EB and scored stacks of necks & bodies - and enough electronics and hardware to actually assemble a few basses and guitars - and I got one of them - a nice Sabre - new old stock I guess you'd call it - natural ash body, RW board, black pick guard - a little on the heavy side, but still a great bass. Shortly after this, I discovered the 5 string and Tobias Basses - and couldn't afford to keep the Sabre. I still wish I had never sold that one.

I just posted on EB - new thread - NAMM 2016 - where's the preview?!

Wow! Nice one. Wanted a Classic Sabre too but found them costing a bit too much at 2400 euros new. Bought a Sterling instead, no regrets tho.

I wonder how much that price will fluctuate in the EU, now that the Classic Sabre has been discontinued.

I'm getting really curious as to what, if any, new bass models EBMM has in store for NAMM 2016. I heard that there may be something coming down the pike, but it's just rumor and conjecture at this point.
