Eyeball,
I can hear the difference fairly clearly between the single/front humbucker.
Like you, I prefer 1-2-3. Settings are a tad different, but those positions are best for me.

I believe they are, I got mine through bassstringsonline, so whatever they are listed as on that site is what I got.

Those be the ones! Just excellent strings. They have a bounce to them that other flats seem to lack, even once they're broken in. And the initial grabby feeling goes away.

I know what you are speaking of, that odd grabby feeling that Cobalt Flats have on initial install. I know spraying things on our basses is highly looked down upon here, but a quick few sprays of Finger Ease over the entire strings once installed eliminated that for me. Just sayin'.

That's a nice one! I had one from that time period back in the mid-80s. Long story short, I knew a guy who had a repair shop here in So Cal and he attended the auction right before EB bought MM and he scored a bunch of bodies, necks and electronics - enough to build a few basses, one of which was a natural Sabre with RW neck - really cool grain on the body, but it was quite heavy. I ended up selling it, but should have kept that one - it was like NEW old stock! I could have had somebody (like a really qualified luthier) chamber that darn thing and it would have been lighter.

Yes. I had it done several years ago by HG Thor. He does great work.

Beautiful bass! I am sure that it sounds as good as it looks. Having and truly enjoying my fretted '79 Sabre (my avatar), the fretless version must be quite something...
Per your description, I was wondering about the difference in having an epoxy-coated fretboard over an untreated one. Just learning more about fretless basses and I have seen this topic come up. Any information on this is appreciated!
