Mustang PJ pickguards

I did actually. I got the bass the other day and set it up and all that jazz and played it for a few hours. After I put the babicz on I noticed a lot more low end and is a bit louder. I noticed it more plugged in actually which I would normally argue is not the case. I wouldn’t say it’s better but better for what i do it is. Honestly the bass sounds more like a Standard bass than other short scales. I leave both pickups on and turn the tone down 1 or 2 notches. The jazz pickup alone sucks bad though. I play Aerodyne basses almost exclusively and have an extra set of pickups laying around but im under the impression they might be the same pickups? I’m an admitted gear head but pickups are not my expertise. The new bridge looks better on it alsoView attachment 2871105

nice, did you have any problems intonating the new bridge? I saw another person on here just say they had to drill new holes 1/8" back to get proper intonation on a new hipshot bridge. I changed the pickups on mine to an SD Quarter Pounder and a Lace Aluma-J and it sounds so much better.

It was actually pretty easy. No different than before. Babicz bridges are pretty user friendly.

Has the pickguard for the 2017+ PJ Bass. Select it under options.
Note that they are not cheap. You are looking at $40 for a basic black to $70+ for a tortoise.
On the good side, they are a perfect fit and the brown tortoise shell looks awesome on my white PJ.

Thank you VERY much!
I had been to their site before finding this thread. I didn't see the PJ listed, I didn't think that there could be a drop down menu deeper in the site. I appreciate it!

Might want to double check with wdmusic on the Mustang PJ pickguard fit just to be sure. This other site seems to say there was a minor adjustment to the new PJ pickguard after release. They have 2 new PJ templates, and there are some very slight differences in the outline and more importantly some of the screw holes. (Guitar Parts Reference Guide)

I just ordered a new Mustang PJ and was also thinking of changing the pickguard, so please let us know how your new pickguard works out fit-wise and appearance.

I have a Fender Mustang PJ on its way from Sweetwater. I got the Sonic Blue, but honestly I'm not thrilled with any of the color offers...
I'm already wanting to change the pick guard to Tort and explored the places that can supply them. One place says there was a mod so I'll have to see what mine looks like.

Questions... does the pick guard come off with the pups attached?

I've read the stock pups are decent?? I might consider getting better sounding pups but I really don't want to change a bridge... is that really needed? Guess it depends.

Like you, I am not thrilled with the colors. I am getting mine refinished.

I have a tort guard on order from:

https://www.pickguardplanet.com/our-work/

They confirmed that their guards are for the current Mustang PJ's.

With mine, the pups were attached to the body, not the guard. The only thing I had to undo was the three way switch.

Sorry, can't help you with the rest as I haven't got mine put back together yet.
