Mustang tuner swap = fix neck dive??

Mustang owners - anybody have one that wouldn't hang well on a strap, swapped tuners for Hipshot or Gotoh and were actually able to right the ship? I don't own one currently and am not looking for strap button relocation advice/suede strap recs etc. Very interested in picking up a Squier or Fender PJ to mod this fall and wanted to collect some info about successful or unsuccessful mechanical attempts to fix the neck dive issues these are known to have. I've got some shoulder issues and strongly prefer to have something both seated and standing with a neutral balance.

Which model of tuners? How big of a difference? What worked better than some other options?

TIA/Cheers.

if you rely solely on the reduced weight of the tuning machines to fix neck dive then you'll have to shop for the style you want and compare weights from one manufacturer to another --- google is your friend! ;)

lightweights: although i've used hipshots (branded and licensed) and gotohs, the lightest weight tuning machines i've ever experienced are CF machines by gotoh:
NEW Gotoh CBT-01 CARBON-O-LITE 4 In-Line LIGHTWEIGHT Bass Tuners for Fender® | Reverb

my p-bass body is so light that the CF machines are the only ones that work. (the whole thing weighs 6 lbs., even!)

they're exceptionally nice, but hopefully, you won't have to go to the same extreme! good luck!

Weight of the 4 original tuners: 173 grams; the 4 Gotohs 63 grams.
[Correction, this was for 2 tuners, so double the numbers for 4].

Major improvement, I would say about 80% better, from bad neck dive to minimal (though not none).

Took about 4 weeks to get them from Japan. I was told no estimate for how long it would take to manufacture and ship them, but 4 weeks not too bad.

I am left with 4 holes per tuner from the old ones.
