MuTron Octave Divider

I had the chance to be able to use one for a couple of years, and it's probably the best sounding analog octave divider ever made.... Totally worth the money.
Of course, it doesn't track as well as digital devices such as the Pog. But it has that thick warm analog tone. For me, the pedal sounding closest to the Mu-tron would be the EBS Octabass used with the switch set on the "Low" position.

IF you can a use a EBS Octabass and a Green Ringer (clone) it will replicate the sounds of a Mutron pretty close and it will track a little better. The original Mutron had a Green Ringer built in for octave up/dirt.

I'm sure I've seen you mention this on here somewhere before, bt hows the tracking compare to the usual octavers (OC-2, Octiplexer, Octabass)? Is it any better, or about the same but the tone makes it worthwhile?

I used to own one. I dropped a ton of money on it after seeing a youtube video with Larry Graham showing off his pedals....to be honest I was pretty disapointed by it. The tone is awesome, (the green ringer is amazingly nasty) but the tracking is pretty bad below the low A. It also struggled to track slap/pop lines. I've also owned an Octabass (great pedal, pretty hi-fi, better tracking than mutron.) But the MXR BOD slays them both. The tracking is amazing, and the tonal versatility is unmatched IMO.

i love it and have owned the octron and ampeg sub-blaster.

great tracking and tone (and tone shaping) and the green ringer circuit is really nice too.

ALSO, the bass only switch is Excellent for keyboard bass tones. throw a light filter/fuzz over top and you have stevie's left hand or other similar tones.

i've never had an issue with the tracking. i've played some blazing fast lines and it kept up, but also i understand the limitations of an Analog octaver and what that means to tracking. and as far as going past the low A, it will, but it doesn't sound pretty. i've sold mine once and bought it back because it is the holy grail of octavers for me.

I had one of those back in the 1980's. I definitely recall it had problems making a usable sound below the A string (and now that I think about it, my age-addled memory seems to recall it had problems below the 5th or 7th fret on the A string), but I can't swear that was a tracking issue per se; might've just been a speaker cabinet issue!

Definitely a cool sounding box though, and built like a tank.
