MXR Bass Fuzz Deluxe - unity gain issue

I think it's designed this way: in order to have unity gain, you are supposed to raise the direct volume signal. It's not designed to be used 100% wet as some other fuzz pedals that also have a clean blend capability (wren and cuff pickle pie comes to mind). I run mine with clean at 11 o'clock, wet, tone and fuzz at noon and I don't have a volume issue. Also the tone control position will have an effect on the perceived volume.

But I think that if you want to use this pedal 100% wet, you might look for a different pedal, as you will have volume issues.

I think this is a perception problem at some level. The way you get big fuzz and retain the low end is by blending in some of the original signal (that is, exempting some of the original from fuzzing). If you do it without a knob or you do it with a knob, it's the same thing. But with a knob the user gets to decide how much. Without a knob you just get what you get.

Same issue here, the wet signal is just not loud enough. There are ways to work around that, my solution was raising the volume of the loop the BFD is in on my LS-2 and lowering the volume on the other pedals in the same loop. It may be how MXR intended it, but 10% more output on the wet signal would make a big improvement IMO.

I absolutely love the pedal's vibe, and it sounds great so far besides this one issue. For those of you who have played/owned the pedal, is this something that you've noticed? Maybe I misunderstood the pedal's intentions, but I'd rather not be forced to use the clean blend, even though i like it's implementation.

Yes, same "problem" here (the wet signal is just not loud enough). After yesterdays intense testing of the BFD i decided to sell the pedal and re-activate my black Sovtek Muff for fuzz purposes.

Hey guys... my MXR Bass Fuzz Deluxe when on and not being played causes a very annoying back ground sound, I don't know if anything is wrong with the pedal. Any info would help, thanks!

Sounds like fuzz noise that's considered business as usual. All fuzz pedals will make some noise like that when turned on. Either you can use a noise gate or turn it off when you're not using it. I elected to do the latter
