MXR envelop filter

Hi all

I just finished a gig where a use my MXR envelop filter. I was playing and there was a ‘bik’ sound once for a while even when I just turn off the effect and bypass my original bass sound .... it’s somehow like when you plug you bass without muting the amp and it’s really awful. I’ve tried to change the cable and the problem is still here. I’ve tried to directly plug the bass into the amp and the problem was solved so apparently is the problem of the filter...

I was using it the same amp at the same venue last Sunday and it was completely no problem..... is it because it is almost out of battery ?

Can anyone enlightened me with why I have this problem? Thx a lot !

Somehow the problem relates to the power supply board in the effect. Had similar problem with a MXR phase 90. Had no electrical knowledge myself so I sent it to a local effects repair shop. The guy said some power supply components were busted, probably from a voltage spike or bad power conditioner from a venue's electrical system. Ended up only costing my wallet $5 so no big deal.
